A New Must-Have for Australian Aged Care Providers

Insightful eBook reveals secrets to passing government quality standards and audits

The aged care and retirement services industry has endured a lot of challenges lately, but one Australian business wants to give facility administrators a free helping hand during the Coronavirus crisis.

An outcome of The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety Interim Report has been the 2019 introduction of new quality standards and a system of auditing to ensure benchmarks are being upheld. In response, one of the nation’s largest caterers in aged care, Cater Care has developed a free eBook focussed on ways in which facility providers can not only meet these standards, but exceed them in exciting ways.

“Our values of care, pride and community govern everything we do,” says Bryce Williams, Cater Care’s Chief Operating Officer – Urban, “Our wealth of experience in the aged care and retirement living sector ensures that consumers’ satisfaction and wellbeing is at the very heart of all that we do. We’re proud to say all of our sites have already been meeting these quality standards for years.”

The standards require providers to give consumers dignity and choice, to provide ongoing assessment and planning with their consumers and to provide a high standard of personal care and clinical care and services and supports for daily living. Every effort should be made to make people feel they belong, and staff need to be knowledgeable, capable and caring.

It’s Cater Care’s approach to service provision that makes the big difference in always meeting these quality standards. The team has a track record of working closely with administrators and consumers to always hone and improve the service. Each site has its own menus developed with the consumers’ tastes in mind, while also designed to be safe, nutritious and comforting. Cater Care’s value of ‘care’ means every staff member listens and adapts to customers’ needs, making everyone feel welcome and respected.

“We put a lot of time, research and effort into ensuring we deliver the highest possible standards of safety and service,” says Jonathan Storer, Cater Care’s National Business Development Manager, “Our team puts a great deal of effort into engaging with clients, getting valuable feedback on what’s important to them, but also working closely with nutritionists to ensure everyone we serve is well nourished and healthy.”

“We take the safety and health of consumers very seriously,” he continues, “Our staff is highly trained on the specific safety challenges faced in the retirement and aged care industry. But it’s not just safety and nutrition that matters to us, it’s important to us that the people we serve have a happy and positive experience every day.

“We think of everything – even the décor in the dining room can make a big difference to the happiness of the customers. It’s this holistic approach and our years of insight that we want to share with the industry at large.”
