Reflecting on the industry’s largest procurement event—and why the future of aged care depends on efficiency, collaboration, and care that goes beyond the plate.
Staying connected to a changing sector
As the aged care sector continues to evolve, conferences like PASA’s Health & Aged Care event are both a brilliant and needed pulse-check on the sector’s challenges, opportunities, and emerging needs.
This year’s event, held in Sydney, brought together procurement leaders and providers from across the country for two packed days of discussion, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing. At the Cater Care booth, we were proud to be joined by Care Food Co.—changemakers in texture-modified food—and Buylink Services, specialists in third-party procurement. Alongside more than 40 other exhibitors, we had the opportunity to connect with key decision-makers and business leaders from across the health and aged care sectors.

A timely theme: Efficiency, Collaboration, Transparency
The 2025 theme—Efficiency, Collaboration, Transparency—struck a timely chord, especially as the sector grapples with the practical implications of federal aged care reforms and increasing expectations around person-centred care and operational sustainability.
Sessions throughout the event explored how providers can streamline operations, build stronger partnerships, and adapt to the ever-changing regulatory landscape. For our team, it was affirming to see how aligned our approach is with where the industry is heading: focused not just on compliance, but on quality outcomes and dignity in every detail.
Real conversations, real decision makers
“There was a genuine interest in our story and our vision,” shared Mark Carmichael, Care Food Co.’s Client Development Manager, after attending his first PASA show. “The delegates here were deeply engaged. We weren’t just handing out brochures—we were having meaningful conversations with the people shaping the future of care.”
And this is just what events like this are about. The authenticity of the connections stood out. There was less small talk, more meaningful discussion. We had the opportunity to connect directly with procurement leaders, share ideas, and explore new ways to support the sector.

A strong future ahead
“We’ve come away with a lot of momentum,” said Jonathan Storer, National Business Development Manager Urban at Cater Care. “More importantly, we’re clearer than ever on what matters most to procurement leaders right now—and how we can support them.”
We’ve already locked in its spot for PASA 2026—and we’re excited to continue being part of the conversations that drive better, more sustainable outcomes for Australia’s ageing population.

Let’s keep the conversation going
