The Aged Care industry is currently undertaking significant changes in order to meet these demand as well as adapting services and projects to meet growing consumer expectations. Cater Care understands that to continue our strong growth in the aged care sector we need to develop partnerships with our clients that are consistent with our core values of Care, Pride and Community.
Cater Care has developed a new training program – called Community Topics which is designed to create small and personal group forums, in which our employees can develop skills, methods and principles around the service that we deliver.
The Community Topics are broken down into five modules. These modules promote the requirements that are necessary to create a positive dining experience – the environment, customer service, our food offering and the residents’ rights in their home. The modules contain several topics that each take between 5-10 minutes to discuss.
“As the face of our organisation, our front line staff are the people our customers and residents know and trust and are the people who make a difference to their dining experience.
“ We help to create a home for our residents in partnership with our clients and in a home it’s the little things that count, and they’re the things we take care of. We understand that we are guests in our resident’s homes and by taking pride in the meals we prepare and the service that we offer, we can ensure they are given a dining experience rather than just a meal.” says Colin Redman, Chief Operating Officer at Cater Care.
The Community Topics Program is designed to give our teams ownership and input into the service offered at their site, and to learn from others by utilising the range of skills we share as a team. This program gives our people the chance to explore what Care, Pride and Community means and bring our core values to life in their service to our residents.”
In most facilities, the dining room is the hub of the village and the atmosphere plays an important role in maintaining healthy eating habits for residents. The program educates our staff in the Cater Care ‘Made Fresh, Every Time’ philosophy which outlines ways to maximise the use of fresh ingredients and preparation techniques, thus ensuring the food looks and tastes good each and every time.
Community Topics gives our employees the skills to interact with residents no matter what their individual circumstances may be and help them to feel at home. The program also guides our staff on the best way to engage our residents and their families and discuss local techniques and styles relevant to their workplace. Through forums and one on one engagement, residents are able to guide and shape their dining experience, which is very empowering for them.
