Never missed a meal

Covid-19 in 4 words for aged care: Never missed a meal

Four words that create a bold statement together. Throughout the pandemic, Cater Care never missed a meal across the country within any one of our 100+ aged care sites and served more than 19,000 meals a day. No matter if every customer in the facility had Covid-19, if there were supply chain issues or otherwise. This statement reflects the entire team’s passion and commitment to the values of Care, Pride and Community at all levels.

From beginning with a national best practice approach advised by our Safety and Wellbeing team, to the General, State, Operations and Site Managers all evolving to match the constantly-changing needs of each specific state, and even local government areas – the past two years has led us to develop an industry-leading ‘think national, act local’ approach to a once-in-a-century event, which significantly impacted our most vulnerable.

Catering with connection

The passionate and committed approach begins with our on-site teams making sure every customer felt truly cared for throughout the many aged care facility lockdowns. For each occasion such as birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Easter and others, despite the fact that meals were served in rooms on trays, our staff would include a note, treat or flower on the tray to show support in times of intense isolation for customers.

Lending a helping hand

Furthermore Cater Care has also extended support to former aged care clients in dire times throughout the pandemic. Where certain non-Cater Care sites have had staff become unavailable throughout the pandemic, former clients have reached out to Cater Care for assistance and we’ve proudly delivered. So while new relationships and approaches have come about through the pandemic, old connections have been strengthened and we’ve shown up for those who need a helping hand.

Strength in teamwork

Extending this type of support but still ensuring a meal’s never missed and customers feel cared for is a true testament to our on-site teams who worked, and continue to work, tirelessly to make sure everything is as safe as possible on the ground. Through the rigid but necessary mandate of personal protective equipment such as N95 masks, face shields and gowns, which resulted in face rashes, sore ears and more, our team continued to work and delivered a professional, outstanding service to all, as attested to below.

As a whole, Cater Care is proud to have supported our aged care clients and their customers throughout the past two years of this pandemic.
