This year’s theme for National Safe Work Month is think safe, work safe, be safe, placing emphasis on the entire life cycle of safety.
Think safe: The first step to safety is ensuring adequate forethought and planning to identify and mitigate risks.
Work safe: Implementing safety measures is the next step and is vital in day-to-day activities.
Be safe: The ongoing process after implementation is the final step in ensuring safety is at the forefront of team members’ minds beyond just this month and conversation.
The commitment to safety, especially at Cater Care, is all-encompassing and means being free from physical and psychological harm. No job should be unsafe, and a safe and healthy workplace benefits everyone.
Although those in different sectors may face varying degrees of safety challenges, we all must put in an equal commitment and effort towards making our environment as safe as possible.
Jordan Conti, Group Safety and Wellbeing Manager, echoes the sentiment of safety being a team effort and that everyone should be prioritising safe practices in the workplace, particularly through Cater Care’s Enabling Safety program.
“Our Enabling Safety program provides proactive actions and direction to keep everyone as safe as possible, as well as information to stay up-to-date on best practices across our multiple industries. Whether team members are working on a remote site, urban site or a head office, we all have the same responsibility in taking safe and sensible actions,” says Jordan.
This National Safe Work Month, we’re encouraging all team members to have a safety chat over a cuppa this month, and initiative developed and successfully driven by Safe Work Australia.
Starting and continuing this conversation is crucial to ensuring everyone is eager to create a safe and healthy workplace.
