May 27 and June 3 are two of the most significant milestones in the reconciliation journey; being the anniversaries of both the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision. It is no coincidence that National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is celebrated across Australia each year between these dates.
Over the past year Cater Care’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been under development and implementation; culminating in its official launch during NRW. The official launch of our RAP provides a timely opportunity for us to re-energise our focus on working with our Indigenous communities to deliver cooperative programs where we can work together effectively.
Across the country, we held morning teas for employees to promote the RAP and its benefits. Participants were introduced to the Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country and its deep cultural significance. We were also very proud to welcome Traditional Owners at many of these events, to share their knowledge and respect for the land we all share. A special thank you must also go to the many Aboriginal representatives and sponsors who enthusiastically supported these events.
Cater Care managers presented our RAP toolbox topics and our RAP launch video to support the communication and reinforce the commitment of Cater Care to our RAP program.
Our RAP program details our commitment to;
Our RAP and commitment to reconciliation are not just a one-week event, it’s a permanent, ongoing focus for our business, and we hope – an ongoing focus for us all.
