Cater Care launches its Corporate Social Responsibility Program: Caring in the Community

Our values of Care, Pride and Community have always been at the heart of what we do at Cater Care, and with this in mind, we are proud to announce the launch of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program – CARING IN THE COMMUNITY.

Cater Care’s new company-wide program Caring in the Community, seeks to make a meaningful and positive impact on Australian communities, to help the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of society access mental health and food support. Caring in the Community will also continue to provide learning and employment opportunities to people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and vital support to Indigenous Australians.

Cater Care Chief Executive Officer, Colin Redman, said “We believe it’s not enough for businesses just to be good at what they do. We all have an ethical responsibility to give back to the communities that support us. Certainly, we have seen impacts on our business during the recent pandemic, but the challenges we’ve faced are nothing compared with how many Australians have been impacted.

“Our Caring in the Community vision is to develop an enduring framework that employees, clients, and residents understand and value. As our business continues to grow, I look forward to seeing the impact our Caring in the Community program can make.”

Cater Care’s Group Marketing and Merchandising Manager and Caring in the Community project lead, Duncan Matthews, says, “We’re thrilled to announce we have chosen two main charities that align with our values – Lifeline and Foodbank. Both charities align with the causes our team and customers have identified as important to them: mental health, closing the gap for Indigenous peoples, providing disadvantaged people with support, education and training, reducing food waste and caring for the environment.”

Lifeline is a national charity that provides 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention to all Australians. Foodbank is Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation, providing more than 77 million meals a year for 2,600 charities around the country.

“We’ll continue to be involved with other community causes,” Duncan explains, “we have ongoing mental health initiatives and events on our sites, and our Reconciliation Action Plan Indigenous program that’s been running since 2012.”

The Caring in the Community initiative will be operational across our 200+ sites where Cater Care provides contract catering and facilities management services for the education, aged care, business and industry, retail, mining and remote sectors. A regular and ongoing program of events that involves all employees is being developed and will be supported financially and administratively by Cater Care.

Lifeline 24/7 crisis support is available. If you or someone you know needs help, call 13 11 14.
