It’s not every day that Cater Care caters for the Prime Minister of Australia, but our team at Buffel Park Village had that opportunity at the official opening of the Caval Ridge Coal Mine project in Moranbah, Qld.
Our team on the ground, with support from our nearby Lake Vermont site, managed the catering for the event under challenging conditions. They were responsible for catering a substantial morning tea, private lunch for the Prime Minister and a working lunch for 150 visiting dignitaries.
Delivering seamless service was challenging, with events conducted in a heavy vehicle shed at the mine site and a long way from the kitchen. It was only through teamwork – and the hard-working CCS Buffel Park maintenance staff who ferried food and staff between the village and the mine – that we were able to deliver a high quality event, with beautifully presented food.
Menus included homemade lemonade scones with Chantilly cream and strawberry preserve; gourmet baguettes with rare roasted beef, sliced tomato, baby rocket lettuce and balsamic vinegar braised red onion; smoked salmon, brie and chive tart; and homemade scorched almond and chocolate chip cookies.
This high pressure but very successful event was a perfect example of what can be achieved with great teamwork.
