Investing in an educational sponsorship is an investment for everyone. And, a good education is healthy for a community both socially and economically.
Meekatharra K-Y12 School is located more than 800 kilometres northeast of Perth, close to the DeGrussa Copper Mine. Representing Aboriginal, pastoral, mining and related services communities, the 180 students are drawn from a diverse local and district-wide population of more than 3,000. The majority of students are primary school aged, and mostly from Aboriginal families.
The school places significant emphasis on a long-term goal for social change, following established ‘teaching and learning’ principles. Working to improve the educational outcomes and aspirations of rural and Indigenous students, and encourage them reach their full potential.
Much like our client, Sandfire Resources, we receive many requests for financial assistance from a wide range of community-based organisations and charities wherever we operate.
On this occasion, Sandfire brought together four businesses (including Cater Care) that are associated with DeGrussa Copper Mine. This newly formed association will help facilitate funding for a much-needed Counsellor for the local Meekathara school.
Our contribution will provide Meekathara School with much-needed assistance, and help to support education within the local community.
